Dog License Information

The County Treasurer must make available, dog licenses, kennel licenses, and dog tags. Once a dog owner or kennel owner complies with the statutory prerequisites of the Calhoun County Dog Ordinance, he or she is able to obtain the appropriate license.

All dogs must be licensed when they attain the age of four months. NOTE: Battle Creek residents living within the city limits must obtain their appropriate license at the city office.
A dog owner must provide proof of Rabies Vaccination. Dog owners who can provide proof of the animal being spayed/neutered will have a reduced license fee.
County residents in most cases can obtain their dog license in person (from Dec. 1st to Feb. 28th of the following year) from their local Treasurer, Human Society/Animal Shelter, or veterinarian clinic. You can obtain a dog license year-round from the County Treasurer’s office, please provide: the application/renewal papers, proof of rabies vaccination, proof of spayed/neutered dog, & appropriate payment (make check or money order payable to Calhoun County Treasurer). When mailing in documentation and payment please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope, certificate will be returned along with your dog license.
One year dog licenses expire on December 31st each year.
