Old Business:

Mr. Arquette expressed some concern as to Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Relief Applications being decided over the telephone. The Director stated that there are times when unforeseen emergent needs cannot wait until the monthly Veterans Affairs Committee meeting. The Director assured both Mr. Arquette and the rest of the Committee that telephone correspondence will only be utilized when the veteran or eligible family member presents an ironclad case substantiated by definitive evidence. All others will be presented at the next Committee meeting. Mr. Savage stated that this policy has seemingly worked well and we are able to serve the veteran or eligible family member much more quickly.

New Business:

The Director informed the Committee that he and the Service Officer will be attending the Michigan Association of County Veterans Counselors Fall Conference on Mackinaw Island on October 2 and October 3.

Meting adjourned at 9:30 A.M.
