Veterans Affairs Committee meeting convened by
Veterans Committee Chairman Phil Savage at 8:00 A.M.

Reading of the May Committee Meeting Minutes and May Activity
Report:
Motion was made by Mr. Turner to accept the May
Minutes as presented. The motion was seconded by Mr. Kaminski.
May Veterans Affairs’ Activity Report was read.
Applications for General Assistance from the Soldiers’ and
Sailors’ Relief Fund:

Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Relief
Application for electric–$2,714.00 |

Approved for $500.00 Contingent on
Applicant’s demonstration that the remaining balance is in
possession before a Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Relief Check will be
issued. Motion was made to approve assistance contingent on
above mentioned stipulation to applicant 05-07 by Mr. Turner and
seconded by Mr. Kaminski. By a 3-2 vote, applicant 05-07 was
approved for $500.00 assistance. For the record, Mr. Arquette and
Mr. Martin were not in support of providing any assistance to
Applicant 05-07. |
Old Business:
Mr. Savage asked the Director if Calhoun County
Civil Counsel, Nancy Mullett had completed the revisions to both the
Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Relief Application and the Calhoun County
Veterans Affairs office Release of Information document. The Director
stated that he has not had any recent correspondence from Ms. Mullett.
New Business:
The Director informed that he conducted a
presentation at the 401st Transportation Company Headquarters
(Washington Avenue) on Saturday, June 4 at 8:00AM for activated
reserve soldiers returning from Iraq. The Director stated that the
presentation lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes. The Director
further stated that this was his second presentation at the 401st
Transportation Company Headquarters in the last three months.
Meeting adjourned at 8:40 A.M.
