Old Business:
For the purpose of clarification, the Director
asked the Committee if they believed that the Veterans Affairs
Committee By-Laws needed an addendum to provide for an interim
appointment for committee members who are on an extended leave of
absence. In this regard, point of emphasis was on a potential interim
replacement for Committee member Todd Kaminski who was recently
activated in support of Iraqi Enduring Freedom. Mr. Martin stated that
he saw no reason to provide an addendum to the By-Laws. Mr. Savage
agreed that as long as we have a consistent quorum, we have the
capability to communicate with Mr. Kaminski by way of email. It was
resolved, then, that there would not be an addendum to the By-Laws to
provide for an interim replacement.
New Business:
The Director informed the Committee that both he
and the Service Officer would not be in the office from Tuesday April
25 through Friday April 28 as a result of the annual Michigan
Association of County Veterans Counselors spring training conference
in Lansing. Because the office would be closed on the afternoon of
those dates, Mr. Savage stated that the Committee should pursue having
a part-time county employee laterally move to the office on those days
to provide a minimum assistance to veterans who came to the office or
take notes of who came to the office and the reason for their visit.
At or about 8:30AM, Mr. Martin made a motion to
adjourn, seconded by Mr. Savage. By a 3-0 vote, the meeting was
adjourned.
Meeting adjourned at 8:30 A.M.
