Financial Hardship Extension Process
Financial Hardship Extensions delay the foreclosure deadline up to one year for homeowners who are actively working to catch up their forfeited property taxes. Homeowners will be required to set up a payment plan. The “granting” of a financial hardship extension ONLY extends the time to pay the forfeited tax year. Monthly interest of 1.5%, fees and/or penalties will continue to accrue during the deferral period, increasing the overall tax liability.
TO APPLY: The financial hardship extension application and required documentation must be submitted to our office no later than 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 (postmarks will not be accepted). You can submit an application via email, fax, or in person.Only applications that are submitted with the required documentation will be processed. Applicants will be required to sign a payment agreement before Noon on Monday, March 31, 2014. Only those applications that are approved and have signed payment agreements will be considered complete and withheld from foreclosure.
However, we highly recommend submitting the application and required documentation as early as December 1, 2013. Once the application and required documentation is submitted, we will contact the owner to arrange an appointment. Financial Hardship Extension Application Packet
