The County Treasurer must make available, dog licenses, kennel licenses, and dog tags. Once a dog owner or kennel owner complies with the statutory prerequisites of the Calhoun County Dog Ordinance, he or she is able to obtain the appropriate license.
- All dogs must be licensed when they attain the age of four months. NOTE: Battle Creek residents living within the city limits must obtain their appropriate license at the city's office.
- A dog owner must provide proof of Rabies Vaccination. Dog owners who can provide proof of the animal being spayed/neutered will have a reduced license fee.
- County residents in most cases can obtain their dog license in person (from Dec. 1st to Feb. 29th of the following year) from their local Treasurer, Human Society/Animal Shelter, or veterinarian clinic. You can obtain a dog license year-round from the County Treasurer’s office, please provide: the application/renewal papers, proof of rabies vaccination, proof of spayed/neutered dog, & appropriate payment (make check or money order payable to Calhoun County Treasurer). When mailing in documentation and payment please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope, certificate will be returned along with your dog license.
- One year dog licenses expire on December 31st each year.
