NOTICE: Starting 5-17-17 John Patterson Way will be closed to thru traffic from East Michigan Avenue to Division Street

Battle Creek Police Department officials are excited to announce that construction of the new BCPD building will begin Wednesday, May 17.

The new Police Department site is across John Patterson Way from the current department, currently a parking lot. The entire building process is expected to take approximately 18 months, with changes in traffic flow and parking around Battle Creek City Hall and the current Police Department.

The first construction phase will take four to six weeks.

Throughout construction, Patterson will be closed to thru traffic from East Michigan Avenue to Division Street. Both entrances to the City Hall parking lot will be accessible. The service drive off of Division Street, leading into the Justice Center public and employee parking lot, also will be accessible.

The small Justice Center public parking lot accessible from Patterson will be open and, along with the usual handicapped spaces, also will general public spaces available.

Watch for posted signs throughout this area.

The city will communicate via our website, social media, and area media outlets as phases progress and any changes are made to traffic and parking locations around the building site. Please use caution as you travel in this area and thanks for your patience as we make these improvements.
